{"id":1928,"date":"2018-05-16T18:26:49","date_gmt":"2018-05-16T15:26:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.parcmamaia.ro\/?p=1928"},"modified":"2024-03-31T10:47:21","modified_gmt":"2024-03-31T08:47:21","slug":"bustul-lui-mihai-eminescu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/parcmamaia.ro\/en\/bustul-lui-mihai-eminescu\/","title":{"rendered":"Bust of Mihai Eminescu"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center\">The statuary complex dedicated to the great poet was unveiled in 1934, has a height of 3m and is the work of the sculptor Oscar Han.<\/h1>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">The monument is located near the sea, on the waterfront of the Casino, thus fulfilling one of the wishes expressed by the artist in the lines of the poem:<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">&quot;I still have one longing...&quot;<br \/>\n&quot;I still have one longing:<br \/>\nIn the quiet of the evening<br \/>\nLet me die<br \/>\nAt the edge of the sea. &quot;<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1930 aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Statuia_lui_Mihai_Eminescu_-201x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"239\" height=\"357\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The poet Mihai Eminescu saw the sea for the first time in 1882, when he was 32 years old. He stopped for 10 days in Constanta to bathe in the sea, on the recommendation of the doctors, and fell hopelessly in love with the beauty of the water.<\/p>\n<p>Some scholars argue that the female figure below the poet&#039;s bust is Calliope, the muse of music, song, dance, eloquence, and epic poetry, while others believe that this statue is a representation of the poet&#039;s beloved.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative to erect a monument in honor of Mihai Eminescu belonged to IN Roman, the brilliant lawyer, writer, journalist, mayor and politician of Constanta, who knew the poet personally.
