Constanta Museum of Art

With a heritage over 7000 Romanian art works, Art Museum is a point of reference on the cultural map of the city, by the value and importance of exhibits.

The basic exhibition of the Constanta Museum is structured on monograph nuclei / masters rooms and suggests a complex picture of the creation of each one, but also of the evolutionary directions of the modern period of Romanian art.

Once you enter the museum, the visitors are welcomed by the works of the artists from the beginning of the Romanian painting (19th century). In this section there are exhibited works by Nicolae Grigorescu, Stefan Luchian, Theodor Aman and Nicolae Tonitza. We see that the museum has the entire collection of the painter Tonitza, which means over 70 works.

An important moment in the history of the Constanta Art Museum took place in the 1990 year, when the works of Nicolae Ceausescu's protocol villa from Neptun were donated to the institution. Then the paintings and sculptures of famous Romanian artists came into the possession of the museum.

During its decades of existence, the museum has edited catalogs of exhibitions, studies and specialist books, cultural and urban anthropology research, focusing on issues specific to modern art and the Dobrudja space.
